Soviet Influence After WWII
After World II, communism began to spread beyond the borders of Russia and the Soviet Union. This is due to the fact that Joseph Stalin had made an alliance with Adolf Hitler to move through parts of Europe that were under Nazi control. After Germany was defeated, Eastern Europe started to be controlled by the Soviets. Stalin began to quickly establish communist rule in East Germany, Poland, Romania, etc. Also, countries such as China, under the leadership of Mao Zedong, North Korea and Cuba, became communist countries. Perhaps they realized how successful communism was getting. If you can't beat them, join them. In the West, people feared that, as Karl Marx predicted, communism would soon spread all around the world.
